This is entirely dependent on the individual contract and the number of hours worked. However, typically, a fire and security engineer can expect a base salary of between £30,000 and £42,000 per year, with total earnings anywhere up to £65,000+.

The salary is based on an individual’s experience and skill level in the sector.

You can also expect to see, as part of the remuneration package for fire and security engineers, 24-day holiday plus bank holidays, additional pay for call-outs, pay linked to travel and vehicle use, and, in some instances, a vehicle allowance (again depending on the organisation and contract).

Is fire and security engineering a good career?

Fire and security engineer roles are always in high demand. And this demand is only growing as businesses invest in the pivotal role they play in developing fire and security infrastructure.

These roles are stable, highly flexible, and no day is the same as the last.
